Best Movies to Watch this Christmas 2016

Published 21 December 2016 By: Frank Caffrey

Christmas is a traditional quality time for many families to get together, but the word “tradition” can sometimes feel synonymous with routine and repetition, like a month spent listening to the chorus of Paul McCartney’s Wonderful Christmas Time.

One can only imagine how boring it would be spending your time at home and doing nothing except watching the local news and stuffing yourself with all the Christmas leftover food. Fortunately, there are entertaining things you can engage yourselves in while you spend your Christmas holidays at home.

If you’re a movies lover like me, then torrenting is the best solution to turn this boring time of the year into the most entertaining of your life. I’ve also compiled a list of popular Christmas movies which are worth watching this year and they’re all available on the Torrents. Come take a look!!

  1. The Holiday

Tagline: Let’s exchange homes.

In London, Iris Simpkins writes a wedding column in a newspaper and nurtures an unrequited love for her colleague Jasper Bloom. Near Christmas, she is informed that Jasper is engaged to marry another colleague, and her life turns upside down.

In Los Angeles, the movie-trailers maker Amanda Woods has just split with her unfaithful boyfriend Ethan and wants to forget him. Through a house exchange website, Amanda impulsively swaps her mansion for Iris’ cottage in Surrey for the holidays.

While in Surrey, Amanda meets Iris’ brother and book editor Graham and they fall in love with each other. Meanwhile, Iris meets her new next door neighbor the ninety year old screenplay writer Arthur, who helps her retrieve her self-esteem, and the film composer Miles, with whom she falls in love.

  1. Bridget Jones’s Diary

Tagline: It’s Monday morning, Bridget has woken up with a headache, a hangover and her boss.

Bridget Jones is an average woman struggling against her age, her weight, her job, her lack of a man, and her many imperfections. As a New Year’s Resolution, Bridget decides to take control of her life, starting by keeping a diary in which she will always tell the complete truth.

The fireworks begin when her charming though disreputable boss takes an interest in the quirky Miss Jones. Thrown into the mix are Bridget’s band of slightly eccentric friends and a rather disagreeable acquaintance who Bridget cannot seem to stop running into or help finding quietly attractive.

  1. Die Hard

Tagline: It will blow you through the back wall of the theater!

NYPD cop John McClane goes on a Christmas vacation to visit his wife Holly in Los Angeles where she works for the Nakatomi Corporation. While they are at the Nakatomi headquarters for a Christmas party, a group of bank robbers led by Hans Gruber take control of the building and hold everyone hostage, with the exception of John, while they plan to perform a lucrative heist.

Unable to escape and with no immediate police response, John is forced to take matters into his own hands.

  1. Die Hard 2

Tagline: They say lightning never strikes twice… They were wrong.

After the terrifying events in LA, John McClane (Willis) is about to go through it all again. A team of terrorists, led by Col. Stuart (Sadler) is holding the entire airport hostage. The terrorists are planning to rescue a drug lord from justice. In order to do so, they have seized control of all electrical equipment affecting all planes.

With no runway lights available, all aircraft have to remain in the air, with fuel running low, McClane will need to be fast.

  1. Home Alone

Tagline: A family comedy without the family.

It is Christmas time and the McCallister family is preparing for a vacation in Paris, France. But the youngest in the family named Kevin gets into a scuffle with his older brother Buzz and is sent to his room which is on the third floor of his house.

Then, the next morning, while the rest of the family is in a rush to make it to the airport on time, they completely forget about Kevin, who now has the whole house all to himself. Being home alone was fun for Kevin, having a pizza by himself, jumping on his parents’ bed, and making a mess.

Then, Kevin discovers about two burglars, Harry and Marv, about to rob his house on Christmas Eve. Kevin acts quickly by wiring his own house with makeshift booby traps to stop the burglars and to bring them to justice.

  1. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

Tagline: He’s up past his bedtime in the city that never sleeps.

Kevin McCallister is back. But this time he’s in New York City with enough cash and credit cards to turn the Big Apple into his very own playground. But Kevin won’t be alone for long.

The notorious Wet Bandits, Harry and Marv, still smarting from their last encounter with Kevin, are bound for New York too, plotting a huge holiday heist! Kevin’s ready to welcome them with more battery of booby traps the bumbling bandits will never forget!

  1. Cliffhanger

Tagline: The height of adventure.

Whilst crossing a ledge, 4000 feet above the earth, Gabe’s friend’s equipment fails to work and she slips out of his hand, falling to the ground. Almost a year later, Gabe is asked to go back to the same mountain range and rescue a group of ‘stranded’ people.

The only catch is that these so called ‘stranded’ people are in fact looking for three boxes filled with $100,000,000 and they need a mountain ranger to lead them to it!

  1. Love Actually

Tagline: The ultimate romantic comedy.

Against the backdrop of aged has-been rock star Billy Mack’s Christmas themed comeback cover of “Love Is All Around” which he knows is crap and makes no bones about it much to his manager Joe’s chagrin as he promotes the record, several interrelated stories about romantic love and the obstacles to happiness through love for Londoners are presented in the five weeks preceding Christmas.

Daniel’s wife has just passed away, leaving him to take care of his adolescent stepson Sam by himself. Daniel is uncertain how to deal with Sam and his problems without his wife present, especially in light of a potential budding romance within their household. Juliet and Peter have just gotten married.

They believe that Peter’s best friend and best man Mark hates Juliet but won’t say so to his or her face. Others looking at the situation from the outside believe Mark is jealous of Juliet as he is in love with Peter himself. Jamie, a writer, is taking a writing retreat by himself in rural France.

  1. Gremlins

Tagline: Don’t get him wet, keep him out of bright light, and never feed him after midnight.

Minature green monsters tear through the small town of Kingston Falls. Hijinks ensue as a mild-mannered bank teller releases these hideous loonies after gaining a new pet and violating two of three simple rules: No water (violated), no food after midnight (violated), and no bright light.

Hilarious mayhem and destruction in a town straight out of Norman Rockwell. So, when your washing machine blows up or your TV goes on the fritz, before you call the repair man, turn on all the lights and look under all the beds. ‘Cause you never can tell, there just might be a gremlin in your house.

  1. Just Friends

Tagline: Some friends are just friends.

Chris Brander has always been friends with Jamie Palamino, but now decides it is time to take his relationship to the next step. The problem is that Jamie still wants to be ‘Just Friends’. When he runs away and moves to L.A., he becomes an attractive music manager, whom everyone wants.

When his jet catches fire and is forced to land, when flying to Paris with his newest singing sensation, Samantha James, he ends up back home. To his surprise, he encounters Jamie again, and sets out to be more than ‘Just Friends’ this time.
